Cyclocross Worldcupfinal in Hoogerheide NED
A nice little village in the Netherlands near the border to Belgium and to the North Sea represented the annual cyclocross worldcup final.
That race at the hometown of Matthieu van der Poel, the officiating cyclocross world champion, is always the trial for the worldchampionships. This year next weekend in Zolder Belgium. Many riders from the nations all over the world like Australia, USA or Japan found their way to Europe for that race before the worldchamps.
The course this year had a different set up. New parts were assimilated on the course as there were stairs with 50 steps, new turns and flat parts. The area around the course got massive landscape changes because they rebuilt a huge road bridge.
It looked very differend than what I have seen there two years ago. The conditions were really difficult, a lot of mud and sticky dirt made it hard to stand the test.
80 riders were announced at the start. Quite a big pack. My start went well, so I could hold my start position as 50th. I rode technically solid and managed to ride into the top 35. I fought against Mourey, Powers, Hyde, Franzoi and Flückiger all race long. In the end I payed tribute for an active riding technic and I was able to hold the 35th place.
I’m happy with my performance!
I’m excited to represent Switzerland at the Worldchampionships in Cyclocross next weekend in Zolder.
