5th at CX Sion UCI C2
It has been a long time since I last rode a cyclocross bike. I came back to race in the dirt this past weekend in Sion.
It feels good to change back from the road to the cx bike. I love to feel the dirt under the wheels.
Sion, known as a race with dry and wet or icy sections, because the course is partly in the sun and partly in the shadow. A bumpy and fast course splittet the riders field quickly into several groups. Right from the start I managed to stay with the front group including five riders. Early Lukas Flückiger attacked the leading group and rode alone at the front. He brought his first win home. I lost the contact to the chasing group with two laps to go. I may have chosen the wrong type of tires so I had to close gaps several times during the race. that killed my legs for the finish so I only got the 5th place.
I couldn’t push as hard as I am capable of. I guess I reached the technical limit in that race.
I’m looking forward to the upcoming competitions. My shape is good.
