Speed is back. But still looking for luck. EKZ Cross Tour #3 Hittnau SUI

After an other week of good, motivated and serious training, the races are going better and better. It seems ‚chainsaw‘ (it used to be my US nickname) is coming back!

It was a very nice sunny day above the normally thick November fog here in Hittnau, Switzerland. Unusual warm temperatures let us doing a warm up with short bibs only. Because of the dry weather, the race course was fast but also hilly and with some slippery turns.

Start went pretty well. Found a spot in the front group in the middle of the top ten. I felt good the first three laps with those guys. At the downhill section unfortunately I hit a wooden stake so hard, that the front Sram avid canty brake broke off on the left side of the fork. Unlucky again. I lost more than one minute till I could get to the pit and change the bike. A couple of riders passed me so I fell back on the 25th position. But I still felt the strength in my legs, so there was no reason to give up! By the way there is at no time a reason to give up! For me the hunting-mission started immediately. I rode with a higher pace for each lap till the end. Without regrets I passed the most guys, who passed me when I was trying to fix my bike standing still. Only a three man group between the leading pack and me passed the finish line just seconds earlier than me.

So I ended up 14th at the UCI C1 race.

I’m happy to feel the way I’m going is the right one.
